After a big decline of more than 200 points yesterday, the Dow Jones Industrials (DJINDICES: ^DJI  ) has spent the morning trading in a narrow range as investors wait for tomorrow's news on the U.S. employment picture. Although today's data included a drop in weekly unemployment claims that would ordinarily have spurred some optimism about tomorrow's report, investors aren't sure whether to root for a strong jobs report that would point to a healthier economy or for a weak report that would increase the odds of further accommodation from the Federal Reserve. That uncertainty kept the stock market near breakeven, with the Dow down two points as of 10:55 a.m. EDT.

But some stocks are bouncing back for shareholders. Home Depot (NYSE: HD  ) has risen 2.2% after getting hit hard in recent days. Rising interest rates have made their way into the mortgage loan market, and that has investors fearing a potential reversal in the substantial home-price gains that the housing market has seen over the past year. Yet reports yesterday that private-equity company Kelso might try to sell off its Custom Building Products home-furnishings and construction manufacturer might have reminded investors that Home Depot might benefit from a potential IPO of its former HD Supply unit, in which it still retains a 12.5% stake.

    Dow losers
    Shares of UnitedHealth (NYSE: UNH  ) are down slightly, probably because of a report that the FBI and SEC have subpoenaed a number of individuals who are believed to have been involved in an April 1 leak indicating that Medicare Advantage reimbursement rates would actually increase after previously announcing a proposed 2.3% cut to rates. UnitedHealth and competitors Humana (NYSE: HUM  ) and Aetna saw share prices surge after the news broke. Nothing indicates that any of these companies were involved in any wrongdoing.

    One under-$10 biopharmaceutical player that's starting to move within range of triggering a big breakout trade is Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners (CPRX), which is focused on the development and commercialization of prescription drugs targeting diseases of the central nervous system with a focus on the treatment of drug addiction and epilepsy. This stock has been on fire so far in 2013, with shares up a whopping 364%.

    If you take a look at the chart for Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners, you'll notice that this stock has been uptrending strong for the last month, with shares soaring higher from its low of $1.29 to its intraday high of $2.09 a share. During that uptrend, shares of CPRX have been consistently making higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now pushed share of CPRX within range of triggering a big breakout trade.

    Traders should now look for long-biased trades in CPRX if it manages to break out above its 50-day moving average of $2.11 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above that level with volume that hits near or above its three-month average volume of 2.21 million shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then CPRX will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $2.87 to $3 a share. Any high-volume move above those levels will then give CPRX a chance to re-test its 52-week high at $3.65 a share.

    Traders can look to buy CPRX off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below some key near-term support levels at $1.65 to $1.63 a share. One can also buy CPRX off strength once it starts to take out those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

West Marine, Inc., incorporated in September 1993, is a specialty retailer of boating supplies and accessories. The Company offers an assortment of merchandise for the boat and for the boater.     West Marine (Nasdaq: WMAR) is an undervalued retailer.  The company is going through a change in focus from a bricks and mortar boat product retailer to a fully integrated retail and wholesale business through bricks and clicks, targeting the boating and water enthusiast customer.   Recent results have been affected by a severe rainy and cool spring which hurt boat usage and delayed the start of the season.  The company has accelerated cash investments to build larger more productive stores and expand its ecommerce abilities, consequently affecting free cash flow short term.  The stock lacks sponsorship as there is only one research report written on the company by a small boutique firm.  The stock trades at only book value despite the company being the leading industry player with a solid balance sheet and significant net cash position.
